How can schools protect academic integrity while allowing AI?
Define allowed roles for AI, require disclosure when it matters, use tools that guide instead of complete, keep teacher visibility, and design some tasks that must be done without AI. Integrity is a practice, not a detector.
Allowing AI and protecting integrity are compatible if the school is specific. Write when AI may tutor, collaborate, or act as a tool — and when the work must be independent. Teach that line. Review a sample of process, not only final papers.
