Should teachers use AI to grade student work?
Be cautious. AI can help a teacher see patterns or draft feedback, but people — not AI — should remain responsible for grades and high-stakes judgments. Students should know if AI was used in assessment.
Grading is a decision about a student’s learning. Delegating the score to a model creates fairness, accuracy, and trust problems. If AI assists with feedback, the teacher still owns the grade and should be able to explain it.
Put that line in the school policy so teachers are not inventing it classroom by classroom.
