AI Literacy
What age should students start learning about AI?
Elementary students can recognize AI, ask questions, and practice safe use. Middle school can add generation, fact-checking, bias, and integrity. High school can add research, ethics, building, and career context. Start with questions the grade can hold.
There is no single starting age. There is a starting question. Younger students can notice “a computer made this” and talk about what not to share. Older students can evaluate sources, argue ethics, and build.
Match the tool and the supervision to the age. Literacy can start before a student has their own account.
