AI in Schools
What can students use AI for?
Students can use AI to ask questions, get unstuck, brainstorm, practice, get feedback, support research, learn to code, and explore creative projects — when the assignment and the school allow it. They should not use it to submit work that is not theirs.
Used well, AI is a tutor, a brainstorming partner, or a tool inside a project the student is still building. Typical school-appropriate uses include:
- Homework support that explains a concept or offers a hint
- Brainstorming ideas, outlines, or examples
- Tutoring and practice
- Coding assistance and project work
- Creative exploration — stories, media, games
- Research support that still requires the student to check sources
The exact list belongs in the assignment and the school AI policy. What students should not do is treat AI as the author of work they will turn in as their own.
