Should students be allowed to use AI for homework?
It depends on the assignment. AI can be appropriate for tutoring, practice, brainstorming, or feedback. Other homework is meant to show independent thinking. The school and the teacher should say which is which before students start.
A single school-wide “yes” or “no” on homework is usually too blunt. The better rule is: AI may help a student understand or practice; it should not produce the work the assignment was designed to measure unless the teacher has said so.
Name the role: tutor, collaborator, tool, or doing the work. Then set disclosure if AI was allowed. HeyOtto is built as hint-first help so students still have to think.
